Pre-Dance/Foundations of Dance (Ages 3 to 5 years)
Dance and music are inseparable. Foundations of Dance is a music and movement based program designed to build a strong base of the fundamental skills required for future dance classes.
Musicality - Dancers learn to connect to and interpret music. The concepts of beat, rhythm and tempo are explored through movement, the playing of musical instruments, listening activities and rhythmic literature.
Spatial and Body Awareness - Develop an understanding of the relationship between our bodies and the space around us through directed and interpretive movements. Enhance balance and motor skills.
Social - Partnering and circle games allow young dancers to experience the social aspects of dance and music while learning boundaries and inhibitory control. Classroom etiquette and appropriate interaction with other dancers are gently reinforced.
Creativity - Creative expression is encouraged and nurtured in each class.
With movement, music, drama and instrumental exploration, we foster self-esteem and confidence and instill a sense of freedom of movement that will complement any style of dance studied in the coming years.
While this program is a serious introduction to the elements of music and dance, it is...above all...FUN!
Early Foundations (6 mos to 3 yrs)/Mommy & Me
Dance is about expression, physicality and connection. We want to share that with our youngest dancers and rekindle it in some of our hardest working dance patrons! This is a wonderful time for mommies and babies to bond, get moving and express themselves in new ways! Music and dance is a foundation that allows for a shared language between mommy and baby, especially before little ones can express themselves verbally. We'll focus on musicality, creativity, physicality, and having a lot of fun!
